Haystacks, Summaries, and Digests

Digests. The usual law class case summary submissions.

Summaries. The usual prerequisite for law class recitations. Distinguished from "digests" which, because the latter are hand-written, tend to be shorter.

Haystacks (derived from “needle in a haystack”). Created as there were certain limitations experienced creating digests (or "summaries"). One such limitation was that of rereading certain cases when same cases were cited in different subjects, else, in the same subjects under different topics. Previously created digests were no longer relevant under said situation. Thus, following the pattern of syllabus presentation available in the Philippine Reports, the author transformed the case texts into compartmentalized paragraphs, allowing the materials created to be reused in other subjects where the cases were similarly cited, usually as a jumpboard for the creation of digests relevant to the subject or the topic in which such cases were cited.
